THE TEAM
Jaclyn Wike Mahler, PrincipalJaclyn was influenced early in life by growing up immersed in the furniture industry in the foothills of North Carolina. Realizing her love for interior design, she earned her BS in Housing and Interior Design from Appalachian State University. In 2003 she moved to Chicago and joined a high-end design firm specializing in kitchen and bath design in the iconic Merchandise Mart. She then joined another high-end kitchen and bath design firm in 2008 where she was their senior designer. In early 2013 she established Studio Swann where she was able to work even more closely with her clients and provide full-service interior design. The opportunity to partner with a friend and previous co-worker presented itself in 2017 and she eagerly joined forces with Melinda LaFrey to establish Wike LaFrey. Together they collaborate to provide well thought-out design plans for their clients.
Jaclyn has achieved AKBD (Associate Kitchen and Bath Designer) accreditation from the NKBA (National Kitchen and Bath Association). She has been published in Luxe Interiors + Design Magazine, Chicago Agent Magazine and Kitchen and Bath Design News Magazine who also profiled her for their Designer Series. She has designed a kitchen for the DIY Network TV show "Kitchen Crashers" and also designed a dramatic master bathroom transformation for the HGTV show House Hunters Renovation. One of her passions in life is travel. She was fortunate to live part-time in Switzerland with her then fiancé for 3 years and the two traveled extensively throughout Europe and Asia. She recently moved to Des Moines, Iowa and is excited to be back in the Midwest and to bring her travel experiences and international design knowledge to the States. She continues to service her clients in Chicago and has expanded the company's services to Des Moines and beyond. "The most important element of my job is to listen to my clients. I always ask them to describe their dream room to me. Most are surprised by what will actually work in their space regardless of the size of the room or the size of their budget. You just have to be creative and think outside the box. That is my job and I LOVE it!" - Jaclyn When's she's not designing homes, Jaclyn is busy chasing her two young children around and soaking up as much quality time with family and friends as possible. |
